ARMA-GEL+ sterile hydrogel dressing with novocaine 10×10 cm — a medical device for providing first aid for burns, wounds and other skin injuries accompanied by pain. The dressing was developed for use in military first aid kits based on recommendations from military personnel and medical professionals.
The hydrogel structure of the dressing moisturizes the wound surface, maintains an optimal environment for healing and prevents the material from sticking to damaged tissue. Thanks to the reinforced mesh, the dressing has increased strength and is able to absorb a significant volume of wound exudate without damaging its structure.
The dressing contains a local anesthetic novocaine, which provides local pain relief in the area of injury, helps reduce pain sensations, burning and discomfort after injuries or burns.
The dressing can be used in field conditions, in military first aid kits, car first aid kits, as well as at home for providing first aid for skin injuries.
Action of the dressing
Hydrogel dressing with novocaine:
- reduces pain sensations
- cools the affected area
- maintains a moist environment for healing
- absorbs wound exudate
- prevents sticking to the wound
- helps protect the wound from infection
- Due to its hydrogel structure, the dressing can perform the function of temporary biological wound coverage.
Properties of novocaine
Novocaine is a local anesthetic that blocks the conduction of nerve impulses in the area of injury.
Its action is related to reducing the permeability of the cell membrane to sodium ions, which prevents the transmission of pain signals.
Main properties:
- local pain relief of the affected area
- reduction of pain and discomfort
- moderate anesthetic effect
The concentration of novocaine in the dressing does not exceed 1%.
Indications for use
The dressing can be used for:
- burns
- superficial wounds without heavy bleeding
- abrasions
- post-operative wounds
- trophic ulcers
- pressure sores
- inflammatory skin conditions
Method of application
- Open the sterile package.
- Apply the dressing to the cleaned wound surface.
- If necessary, secure with a bandage or adhesive tape.
- The duration of the dressing on the wound is determined by the doctor, but should not exceed 48 hours.
The dressing is intended for external use only.
Advantages
- pain relief thanks to novocaine
- cooling of the affected area

What is the difference between hydrogel dressing “with lidocaine” and “with novocaine”?
Lidocaine:
- Stronger anesthetic
- Works faster (approximately 1–3 minutes)
- Maintains pain relief longer (up to 2–3 hours)
- More commonly used in modern medicine
- Better suited for severe pain or burns
Novocaine (procaine)
- Milder action
- Onset of action is slightly slower
- Shorter effect (approximately 30–90 minutes)
- Less irritating to tissues
- Often used in dressings for wounds and burns
So the difference between lidocaine and novocaine is that:
- Lidocaine — stronger and longer-lasting pain relief.
- Novocaine — milder, but safer for prolonged contact with tissue.
Hydrogel dressings with novocaine are more commonly used because:
- can remain on the wound longer
- novocaine has a milder effect on tissues
- lower risk of irritation
Hydrogel dressings with lidocaine are used when:
- fast and stronger pain relief is needed
- there is severe pain after injury or burn
- it is necessary to quickly reduce pain syndrome in field conditions
- a pronounced local anesthetic effect is needed
