Powder fire extinguisher VP-5 — a powerful handheld primary fire suppression device weighing 8 kg with a 5 kg charge of universal ABC powder. The largest volume in the line: a jet up to 3.5 meters and 9 seconds of discharge provide a serious reserve for extinguishing both vehicles and small premises. Ukrainian production (Rubizh), complies with DSTU 3675-98.
Why you should have a fire extinguisher on hand
Fire in a vehicle or premises spreads rapidly, and it is easiest to stop it at the initial stage. VP-5 with a 5 kg charge covers a larger fire area and provides more time for extinguishing than compact models — this is the choice when you need a reserve of powder for a more serious fire source.
Compared to VP-1 (1 kg) and VP-2 (2 kg), the VP-5 model has the maximum charge and the longest jet in the line. Optimal for trucks, special equipment, workshops and premises where a compact fire extinguisher may not be sufficient.
What the VP-5 fire extinguisher extinguishes
ABC powder covers three classes of fires:
- Class A — solid combustible materials (wood, fabric, paper, plastic)
- Class B — flammable liquids (gasoline, diesel, oils, solvents)
- Class C — flammable gases
- Electrical equipment under voltage up to 1000 V — extinguishing from a distance of at least 1 meter
Important: VP-5 is not intended for extinguishing metals and metal-containing compounds. Do not store the fire extinguisher near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
How carbon dioxide fire extinguisher differs from powder
CO₂ extinguishes fire using two mechanisms at once: it displaces oxygen from the combustion zone and rapidly cools the fire source. Unlike powder, it does not damage equipment, documents or surfaces — after activation, the gas simply evaporates. This is why carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are placed where powder would cause secondary damage: near servers, electrical panels, office equipment, at charging stations.
