Description

Gas burner on threaded cylinder with remote connection, piezo ignition and wind protection, 3500 W, 267 g, with case — tourist burner of a remote scheme: the burner itself stands on the ground on three wide supports, and the cartridge is connected from the side through a flexible hose in steel braid. The center of gravity is low, so a 2–3 liter pot and a frying pan stand on it, which a burner on a cartridge cannot support. 3500 W boils a liter of water in 6 minutes; consumption at maximum 240 g/hour. Around the perforated head — a steel bowl-windscreen, and since the cartridge is moved to the side, the burner can be closed with a screen from all sides without overheating the cartridge. Piezo ignition — start without matches; the flame regulator is located on the adapter near the cartridge, so you don’t need to turn it over hot dishes. Thread 7/16″ per EN 417 — for threaded cartridges 100, 230 and 450 g. In folded form, the hose is wrapped around the body: Ø 9 × 7.8 cm, 267 g, includes orange plastic case 10 × 9.3 × 9.3 cm.

The burner works only with threaded cylinders — the catalog has all-season 100 g, 230 g and 450 g with butane-isobutane-propane mixture down to −23 °C. A lighter and cheaper option for solo and camping — foldable burner 3200 W that screws onto the cylinder; for collet cylinders 220 g — Kovar ZT-203 and Kovar ZT-202. If the piezo acts up in the frost — storm matches UWOIL. All cylinders, stoves and burners — in the section Gas cylinders, stoves and heaters.

For whom

  • Units: cauldron at the department stands steadily, burner is shielded from wind by a screen, cylinder on the side in warmth — hot food in shelter with air intake
  • Groups on a hike for 3–6 people: 3.5 kW under a 2–3 L cauldron — soup and tea for everyone in one go
  • Winter hikes, mountaineers: cylinder on a hose kept warm separately from the burner, screen around the flame does not heat the cylinder
  • Auto tourists, camping, fishing, hunting bases: frying pan, kettle, cauldron — like on a home stove
  • Home during power outages: stable burner on a balcony or in a yard, 450 g cartridge — several days of cooking for a family

Benefits

  • Detachable design — burner on the ground, cartridge to the side: low center of gravity, stable under a 2–3 L cauldron and frying pan
  • 3500 W — one liter of water in 6 minutes
  • Steel bowl-windshield around the head; cartridge removed — burner can be shielded from all sides
  • Piezo ignition — ignition without matches
  • Flame regulator on the adapter near the cartridge — hands away from the fire
  • Three wide folding supports with teeth, span Ø 16 cm — cookware from a small pot to a 3 L cauldron
  • Steel braided hose, brass fittings, thread 7/16″ EN 417 — for cylinders 100, 230, 450 g
  • Consists of a coiled hose with Ø 9 × 7.8 cm, 267 g; plastic case included

Instructions for use

  1. Unfold the three supports fully and place the burner on a level non-flammable surface. Check that the regulator on the adapter is closed — turned to the «−» position fully.
  2. Screw the adapter with hose onto the threaded cylinder clockwise until tight — without effort or misalignment. Place the cylinder vertically nearby, straighten the hose without kinks or tension; the hose must not touch the head or bowl.
  3. Open the regulator a quarter turn towards «+» and press the piezo ignition button once or twice. If the gas does not ignite within two to three seconds — close the regulator, wait 10 seconds and repeat; in rain and frost, bring a match or lighter to the burner head.
  4. Place the cookware in the center of the supports and adjust the flame on the cylinder: maximum — for boiling, minimum — for cooking and heating. The flame should be blue; yellow and smoky — close, wait, ignite again.
  5. After cooking, close the regulator all the way — the flame will burn out in a few seconds as gas exits the hose. Let the burner cool for 3–5 minutes, unscrew the adapter from the cylinder, fold the supports, wrap the hose around the body and place in the case.

The windscreen cup keeps the flame steady in moderate wind; in strong wind, place a screen or backpack around the burner on the windward side — the canister stays outside, so the screen won’t heat it. In winter, keep the canister in a pocket or sleeping bag before cooking, and during operation — on a foam pad or in a glove, not on snow. Do not tip the canister: the burner has no vaporizer, liquid gas from the hose creates a torch. Once a season and after long storage, check connections for leaks with soapy water; do not bend the hose or pull the burner by it.

Safety

Use only with threaded cartridges per EN 417; do not connect through homemade adapters to valve cartridges, household cartridges and lighter cartridges. The cartridge must stand vertically during operation; do not turn over or lay on its side. Cook only in the open air or in a shelter with air intake — combustion produces carbon monoxide; do not use in a closed tent, car, bunker without ventilation. The head, bowl and supports are hot for several minutes after operation — do not touch, do not fold while hot, do not put in a case. Do not place dishes wider than 24 cm: heat reflects onto the hose and supports. Do not carry a working burner and do not pull on the hose. Change the cartridge only on a cold burner away from fire. Do not leave unattended, keep away from children. If you smell gas or hissing at the connection— close the regulator, unscrew the cartridge, cannot be used. Store in the case, unscrewed from the cartridge.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a remote burner better than one that screws onto a canister?
Stability and wind resistance. A burner on a canister stands high and holds a pot up to 1–2 liters; a remote one stands on the ground on supports Ø 16 cm and holds a 3-liter pot and a frying pan. The canister is positioned to the side, so the burner can be completely shielded with a screen, and in winter you can keep the canister warm. The trade-off is 267 g versus 109 g and a higher price. For solo and lightweight camping, get a burner on a canister; for a group, a large pot, and winter — this one.

Can you flip the cylinder to work in frost?
No. The burner has no evaporator tube above the head, so liquid gas from an inverted cylinder produces a torch. In frost, work with an all-season cylinder with propane, keep the cylinder warm before and during cooking.

Does it fit a 220 g collet cylinder?
No — adapter with 7/16″ EN 417 thread for 100, 230 and 450 g cylinders. For collet cylinders, get Kovar ZT-203 or ZT-202.

What to do if piezo won’t ignite?
First open the gas a quarter turn, then press — not the other way around. In strong wind, cover the head with your palm from the side. If there’s a spark but no gas — the cartridge is cold or empty. If there’s no spark — the electrode is wet; wipe it, and in the meantime light it with a match: the burner won’t get worse from this.

What dishes can you put on it?
From a pot of 0.3 l to a cauldron of 3 l and a frying pan up to 24 cm: prongs on three supports with a span of 16 cm hold a bottom of 9–24 cm. Wider dishes reflect heat onto the hose and supports.

How long does a cartridge last?
At maximum 240 g/hour: 100 g — about 25 minutes, 230 g — about an hour, 450 g — about 1 hour 50 minutes. At half power — twice as long. For a group on a weekend take 450 g.

Can you use it in a tent or dugout?
In a closed space — no: combustion produces carbon monoxide. In a vestibule with an open entrance, under a canopy, in a dugout with air intake — yes, on a non-flammable surface and under supervision. A portable burner is more convenient here: low, stable, the cylinder can be placed away from heat.
