Why a fire extinguisher should be within reach
Any fire is easiest to stop in the first seconds of ignition — that’s when the source can still be localized with minimal losses. This is especially critical in a car: fuel, oil, plastic and electrical wiring ignite quicklyquickly, and for saving property and life there are only seconds. In such a moment you can rely only on yourself and on a working fire extinguisher in quick access zone.
Compared to VP-1, the VP-2 model has twice larger charge (2 kg vs 1 kg) and longer stream (3 m vs 2 m) — this is more dispensing time and greater distance to the fire. Optimal option when you need a reserve for more serious fires.
What extinguishes fire extinguisher VP-2
ABC Powder covers three classes of fires:
- Class A — solid combustible materials (wood, fabric, paper, plastic)
- Class B — flammable liquids (gasoline, diesel, oils, solvents)
- Class C — flammable gases
- Electrical equipment under voltage up to 1000 V — extinguishing from a distance of at least 1 meter
Important: VP-2 is not intended for extinguishing metals and metal-containing compounds. Do not install the fire extinguisher near heat sources and in direct sunlight.
How a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher differs from a powder one
CO₂ extinguishes fire using two mechanisms at once: it displaces oxygen from the combustion zone and rapidly cools the fire source. Unlike powder, it does not damage equipment, documents, or surfaces — after activation, the gas simply evaporates. This is why carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are installed where powder would cause secondary damage: near servers, electrical panels, office equipment, and at charging stations.
