Autonomous diesel heater MAR-POL M80950 — air heater with a closed combustion chamber: the burner operates in a sealed circuit, combustion air is drawn from outside through an intake pipe with a filter, exhaust is vented outside through a muffler. Only dry clean hot air enters the room — without odor, smoke, or increased humidity, unlike open diesel heaters that discharge combustion products into the room. Power 8 kW (according to manufacturer data), tank 5 L, consumption 0.15–0.5 L/hour — from 10 to 30 hours of operation on a single refill. How it differs from a diesel heat gun

A cannon with open combustion burns fuel in a stream of air blown into the room — along with heat, CO₂, moisture and odor enter the room, so powerful ventilation is needed. In M80950, the combustion chamber is closed: combustion products go into the exhaust pipe outside, and heat is transferred through a heat exchanger. That’s why such a heater can be placed in a cabin or wagon, and fuel consumption is 3–5 times less than in a cannon with the same heat output.

Operating modes and control

Manual mode — fuel supply frequency is adjusted, that is, heating power. Automatic mode — you set the temperature, the heater maintains it using a sensor; 1 °C before reaching the target, it slows down the heating and approaches the set temperature smoothly, without turning on and off every minute. Timer — after setting the clock, you can program the start time and shutdown time so the room warms up before work begins. Remote control — turns on, turns off and changes power without approaching the device; has a cord loop and protection against accidental pressing. Remote control battery (type 27A, 12 V) is not included.

Installation and startup

1. Install the heater on a flat non-flammable surface. Maintain safe distances: in front of the hot air outlet — at least 3.5 m, behind (intake) — 2.5 m, on the sides and top — 2 m.
2. Connect the intake pipe with air filter and exhaust pipe with muffler. The exhaust must be vented outside through a non-combustible insulated passage in the wall, tent or floor.
3. Fill diesel fuel in the tank (in winter — winter grade). Gasoline, alcohol and other volatile liquids are prohibited.
4. Connect power: to 230 V/50 Hz network through a line with RCD (GFCI) or to a 12 V source with a 15 A fuse.
5. Before first startup, prime the fuel pump to remove air from the line. Startup — by holding the button on the controller or from the remote.
6. Turn off only with the button: after the burner stops, the fan cools the chamber for a few more minutes. Never disconnect power abruptly during operation — this damages the burner.

Safety

Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide (CO). The exhaust pipe must be vented outside through a non-combustible insulated passage; in the room where the heater operates, a functioning CO detector must be installed. Use only in rooms with proper ventilation; prohibited for use in residential buildings and in basements and underground rooms below ground level. Refuel only with diesel fuel — gasoline, alcohol and other volatile liquids are prohibited; spilled fuel must be cleaned up immediately. The hot air outlet heats up above 100 °C — do not touch the pipe and body during operation, do not cover, do not place close to combustible materials. Do not disconnect power abruptly — turn off using the button and wait for the cooling cycle to complete. Before servicing, turn off, allow to cool, disconnect power. VDo not dispose of used equipment with household waste — hand it in at an electronic waste collection point.

Maintenance and Storage

At the lowest point of the muffler, the manufacturer recommends drilling a 3 mm diameter hole for condensate drainage. Periodically check the air filter cleanliness and the tightness of pipe connections. Store in a dry, clean place with an empty tank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it be placed in a bunker or basement?
No. The manufacturer’s instructions prohibit use in underground premises below ground level and in residential buildings: it is impossible to guarantee ventilation and safe exhaust removal there. The heater is designed for a garage, workshop, warehouse, truck bed cover, trailer, tent on the surface — with exhaust vented outside and a CO sensor.

Does it smell in the room?
No: combustion products go into the exhaust pipe outside, and only heated air is supplied to the room. Diesel smell is only possible near the exhaust outlet on the street.

How long does it run on one refill?
5 liter tank at consumption of 0.15–0.5 l/hour — from 10 hours at maximum to 30 hours at minimum mode. In thermostat mode, consumption is average: the device operates at low power when the target temperature is reached.

What is needed to operate from 12 V?
A 12 V source capable of delivering 15 A (maximum current — at startup when the glow plug is working), a 15 A fuse and cables of appropriate cross-section — 12 V cables are not included in the kit. A car battery or charging station with 12 V output at 15 A is suitable.

Does it work without electricity at all?
No — the pump, fan, glow plug and controller require 230 V or 12 V power. To operate without mains power, use a battery, charging station or generator.

What fuel to pour in winter?
Winter diesel fuel (arctic in severe frosts): summer diesel thickens in frost, the pump cannot pump it, and the heater does not start.

Can it be left running unattended, for example overnight?
Only with exhaust vented outside, functioning ventilation and a CO detector in the room; the timer allows you to program shutdown. Without a CO detector, you cannot leave a running heater in a room with people.
