The GOLOK machete is a powerful chopping tool that combines the strength of an axe and the speed of a machete. The 5 mm thick blade is made of high-carbon steel 66Mn4 with a hardness of 55 HRC. The GOLOK machete from Blade Brothers Knives combines the power of an axe and the speed of a machete. It is a versatile field tool designed for work in challenging conditions — from clearing undergrowth to harvesting firewood for camp.
The 5 mm thick blade is made of high-carbon steel 66Mn4 and hardened to optimal hardness of 55 HRC. This combination provides high impact toughness, resistance to loads, and long edge retention.
Unlike classic machetes designed for clearing thin and flexible jungle vegetation, GOLOK is designed for working with hardwood and field conditions of Ukrainian forests.
Structurally, a golok is a heavy single-edged cleaver. Its main feature is the center of gravity shifted far forward, closer to the tip. This is what allows the tool to create an extremely powerful chopping blow.
Even if the swing is slightly slower, the inertia and mass of the blade compensate for this — the tool literally splits wood of any density.

Construction and Steel
The machete has a solid metal full-tang construction. The blade and tang are made from a single piece of high-carbon steel 66Mn4.
The steel thickness is 5 mm, which provides high structural strength even with strong chopping blows.
The steel has good impact toughness, absorbs impact energy well, and withstands significant loads.
The blade is hardened to 55 HRC hardness. This is an optimal balance between strength, durability of the cutting edge, and the ability to easily sharpen in field conditions.
The machete holds its edge for a long time and can be sharpened even with a regular whetstone or file.
Corrosion-Resistant Coating
Since high-carbon steel is prone to corrosion, the blade is coated with a special black polymer layer.
The coating protects the metal from moisture, dirt, and oxidation, and also reduces surface glare.
Blade
The blade shape is designed for maximum chopping efficiency.
The absence of a pronounced tip allows you to use the blade edge as an improvised shovel.
The center of gravity is shifted forward, which significantly increases the force of the blow with minimal swing.
The working zones of the blade are distributed as follows:
upper part — best suited for debarking wood
middle part — main chopping zone
area closer to the handle — for precise cutting work
Wide Bevels
The blade has wide bevels that provide a minimal cutting edge angle.
Because of this, the tool easily penetrates the material and effectively cuts wood fibers.
This geometry significantly reduces resistance during chopping and increases work efficiency.
Handle
The handle is equipped with textured ABS plastic scales.
The material provides a reliable grip even in wet conditions or when working in gloves.
The scales are fastened with screws, so they can be tightened or replaced if necessary.
There is a hole at the end of the handle for a lanyard.
Sheath
The machete comes with a durable nylon sheath.
The sheath is equipped with:

HOW TO CARE FOR HIGH-CARBON STEEL
Steel 66Mn4 provides a very aggressive cut and works great on wood, but requires basic care.
Keep the blade dry: after work, wipe the machete dry and do not leave it in a damp sheath.
Lubricate the cutting edge: exposed steel on the bevels requires a thin layer of oil.
Proper sharpening: use a sharpening stone or honing steel for maintenance. Avoid overheating the metal on mechanical sharpeners.
Intended use: the tool is designed for working with wood. Chopping metal or stone can damage the cutting edge.
