Lightweight body armor “Sarmat” — maximum protection with minimum weight

“Sarmat” provides effective anti-fragment protection thanks to soft armor plates of class 1 according to DSTU 8782:2018. Armor plates are made of UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) — a material with optimal strength-to-weight ratio that exceeds traditional body armor materials. The body armor consists of three main parts — anti-fragment vest, collar and groin-abdominal module. Movable and detachable elements allow you to customize the product for a specific situation and achieve the required level of protection without unnecessary burden.

Ballistic Protection

The body armor is equipped with soft armor of class 1 with a total area of 52 dm² and weight 4.7 kg (without armor plates). The armor package material is UHMWPE manufactured by Israeli company FMS. Class 1 armor package during testing withstands shots from a Stechkin automatic pistol from a distance of 5 m, has a behind-armor blunt trauma up to 22 mm (on average 15 mm or less). Unlike Kevlar (para-aramid), UHMWPE does not change ballistic properties when wet.

Pockets for armor plates

In addition to compartments for soft armor packages, the “Sarmat” has front and rear pockets for armor plates sized 25×30 cm with beveled top corners (thickness up to 30 mm). Compatible with SAPI M, ESAPI M plates. By adding steel plates of 3rd or 4th class, the “Sarmat” can be converted into a full-fledged military body armor.

Materials and MOLLE system

The product is made of durable wear-resistant nylon 1000D (Cordura analog). The entire inner part is lined with 3D mesh, which ensures air circulation and prevents overheating. High-quality velcro fastener Alfatex and nylon hardware are used. System precisionMOLLE is achieved through high-precision computerized equipment.

Ergonomic straps

Shoulder straps are made of 3D mesh for even weight distribution, the front part is made of ultra-durable Hypalon with a rifle stock insert. Length is adjustable with velcro to fit military personnel height (up to 2 m), MOLLE cells are located on top for pouches or assault backpack straps.

Neck protection module

The collar protects the neck and collarbones, attaches to the straps and MOLLE cells on the front plate. The front can be unbuttoned for ventilation, the longitudinal cut at the back facilitates head movement and work while lying down. The collar has a sewn handle for quick evacuation of the wounded.

Groin protection module

A built-in movable apron protects the abdomen and groin: it can be lowered to the desired level or hidden behind the plate using springy elastic hinges with rigid pullers.

Cummerbunds

Extended edges of the anti-fragmentation vest overlap the sides; dual MOLLE cells allow mounting side armor protection from the inside and pouches from the outside. Waist circumference is adjusted with quick-release fasteners made of durable plastic, and an elastic strap provides freedom of movement and breathing.

Emergency release system and quick release

The emergency release system consists of steel cables around the perimeter of the front plate and two drive handles, hidden on the inside at chest level and secured by a button against accidental snagging. By pulling them, the body armor instantly breaks down into parts; after which the cable easily returns to place. For quick release correspond to high-speed fastexes of cummerbunds — they allow you to silently open the body armor and remove it over your head.
